About The Neuropsychological Examination

It describes what the neuropsychological examination is, who is qualified to conduct the exam, the design process, as well as why a neuropsychological examination may be needed.

The Memory Clinic

(otherwise known as “Neurocognitive Rehabilitation”)

Our Memory Clinic is the first of its’ kind to be introduced to the North Bay Area. Our unique program began offering services to patients with neurodegenerative disease, stroke, cardiovascular issues and head injuries in 2008. Our program consists of a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation, assessment of daily living skills and a medication review, designed to assist patients in the optimization and preservation of cognitive skills. Our highly trained multidisciplinary staff recognizes the importance of the relational balance between mind and body and its role in achieving successful outcomes to treatment. This means that each patient is viewed as an active and equal participant in creating and achieving treatment goals.

Who is a candidate for Neurocognitive Rehabilitation?

Any person who has been diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disease (such as a type of Dementia or Parkinson’s), traumatic brain injury, stroke, or learning disability may benefit from weekly sessions with our trained staff. Please call us for additional information or to set up a consultation.

What is the focus of each session?

After the neuropsychological evaluation, we are able to identify target areas to work on each week. Generally speaking, we “exercise” one or more areas of the brain: Visual-Spatial skills, Executive Functioning, Memory, Language, Attention, and Sensory-Motor skills. Sessions are designed to preserve or enhance functioning, by teaching skills that can be used at home and in daily routines.

We offer an extensive range of forensic services.

Child Custody Evaluations

Why choose Neuropsychological Associates (NA) to complete your Child Custody Evaluation?

How are we different from other providers?

We offer a unique skill set that emphasizes how psychological factors, cognitive deficits, and serious medical impairments affect parenting, as well as a child’s overall functioning.

Our specialties include complex cases that assess the impact of cognitive and neurological impairments, such as TBI, learning disabilities, psychopharmacology, trauma/abuse and other biopsychosocial conditions on the developing child.

  • Evaluations are individually tailored to each case and comprise a comprehensive record review (medical, educational, forensic, employment, drug/ETOH, cultural/ethnicity, social), collateral investigations and direct observation (s).
  • We presently provide services in the San Francisco, Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Contra Costa/Solano counties.

Competency Evaluations

  • Competency to stand trial (1368)
  • Juvenile waiver to adult court (707)
  • Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity
  • 1017 Evaluations

Personal Injury Evaluations

What is a Personal Injury Case?

Personal Injury Cases or Claims generally involve physical injuries that happen in a variety of contexts, such as traffic accidents, work related accidents, product defect resulting in injury, or injuries related to medical/dental negligence. In some instances, the injury is to the mind (or emotions), as opposed to an injury of the body, such as PTSD related to occupational stress.

For more information about our services and the evaluation process, please call us to schedule a consultation: (707) 526-5424.

PSYCHOPHARMACOLOGY

Neuropsychological Associates offers psychopharmacological review, monitoring and evaluation for drug-drug interactions that could result in decreased cognitive, motor and/or psychological functioning. Consultation is arranged with the prescribing physician (s) to identify potential conflicts and assure the maximal therapeutic pharmacological benefit with the least number of active prescriptions. NA works to assure that all prescribing physicians are aware of a patient’s active prescriptions.

Dr. Michael A. Fraga, MSCP received his post-doctoral Master’s Degree in Psychopharmacology from Alliant University-CSPP/San Francisco. He is one of a growing number of specially trained professionals to actively work with patients and their physicians regarding the healthful, helpful application of psychopharmacological agents and complimentary alternative medicines (CAMS).
